- PhilosophyPared down. Alongside the opulent, powerful Meursaults and the rich, mineral Chassagnes, are the pared-down wines of Puligny-Montrachet. Precise, linear and pure are the characteristics of the wines from this small, world-renowned village and they particularly shine through in the Premier Crus.
- TerroirLocated to the north of the village of Puligny-Montrachet, bordering Meursault, the “Les Referts” Premier Cru climat lies uphill from the “Meursault- Charmes” plots. The 30 -year- old vines are planted at the foot of the slopes in rather deep, marly soil, which lends the same matu- rity and richness that are found in “Les Charmes”. However, this wine’s elegant, linear framework and its floral bouquet reveal all of the typicity of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation.
- Vinification and ageingThe grapes were handpicked, meticulously sorted and completely destemmed. Following gentle pressing of the grapes, only the finest juices were vinified at low temperatures in barrels to extract fresh, rich aromas and flavours. The wine was barrel aged for 14 months in new, finely-grained French oak barrels that were selected with great care to lend finesse and elegance to this exceptional wine.
- Tasting notesSuperb pale gold in colour. The nose is all finesse and elegance, featuring fresh notes of menthol, eucalyptus and liquorice along with a hint of freshly-cut grass. Then come warmer scents (liqueur and orange peel, light tobacco, vanilla). The nose opens up impressively and continues to gain in complexity. A hint of toast can be detected. Rich, delectable start to the palate (white chocolate, hazelnut, praline, dried apricot), boasting lovely volume. Superb palate endowed with exceptional balance, finishing with freshness and subtlety. A great white Burgundy.
