Puligny Montrachet Village - 2021

  • PhilosophyElegance and pureness: along with Meursault and Chassagne- Montrachet, the small village of Puligny-Montrachet is the third element in the “Golden Triangle” of the illustrious Côte de Beaune appellations that produce white wines which are famous around the world. The main characteristics of Puligny are elegance, pureness, precision and assertiveness. They are considered to be the archetype for the world’s great Chardonnays.
  • TerroirThe grapes for our Puligny-Montrachet hail essentially from the “Corvée des Vignes” plot, located in the northern part of the appellation, close to Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes. The vines grow at the bottom of the slopes in alluvial and clayey soil that overlie hard limestone subsoil composed of the prized local Chassagne stone.
  • Vinification and ageingAfter the grapes underwent gentle pressing and light settling, vinification was conducted entirely in barrels, with a proportion of 33% new oak. Malolactic fermentation takes place in spring. During the ageing period, the wine was stirred regularly and vigorously to enrich its texture and lend subtle notes of brioche. Barrel ageing lasted a total of 14 months.
  • Tasting notesDelicate golden yellow in colour. Superb heady nose that is extremely delicate and subtle, the epitome of finesse. Expressive and intense, it offers lovely delectable scents (brioche), along with aromas of crème brûlée and sugar-coated almonds. Subtle hints of oak. Sucrosity opens the palate (notes of marzipan, pear tart), yet it remains fresh and complex. The palate is precise and exemplary of a subtle, classy wine that is typical of its terroir.
