  • PhilosophyFar-reaching memories: Niched between its two prestigious neighbours, Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis holds particular charm for the Delaunay family with whose growers it has always maintained faithful friendships. As a matter of fact, it was there that Laurent Delaunay had his first experience with vinification in 1983 and discovered these fragrant, powerful wines that feature characteristic notes of rose and violet.
  • TerroirThe grapes that make up this cuvée are sourced from four different climats (“Les Craies”, “Les Cognées”, “Les Corvées Creunilles” and “Les Cheneverys”), all of which are located below the village, to the east. The vines thrive in deep, rich soil that lends the wine considerable power.
  • Vinification and ageingThe grapes were handpicked and meticulously sorted so as to only retain the finest bunches of grapes, which were destemmed before being transferred to tanks. Daily punch-downs were performed during the vinification process. Barrel ageing lasted 15 months (including 25% new oak from Central France forests).
  • Tasting notesSublime blackcurrant red in colour. The extremely elegant nose is fine and ripe. Even the first nose is highly complex, with fruity (cherry, red berries) and floral (rose, fresh wood) notes that are immediately followed by spicier aromas (pepper). Then come delectable, almost sweet scents (candied almonds, chocolate). Superb start to the palate, delectable and fresh. Boasting magnificent balance, this wine also features remarkably fine tannins and mastered acidity that can be perceived throughout the tasting experience. The palate extends into a finish that is evocative of coffee and herbs (thyme, bay leaf), which mingle harmoniously with the finesse of violet nuances. This is a fine wine for laying down whose full potential will be revealed as it ages.
