  • PhilosophyOne of the main characteristics of Nuits-Saint-Georges’ wines lies in the great diversity of its terroirs, diversity that is found in the different styles of wines that vary greatly depending on where the grapes are grown. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the House of Edouard Delaunay illustrates this multiplicity by offering several selections from Premier Cru climats located both north and south of the village.
  • TerroirThe “Les Pruliers” climat is named after the plum and wild cherry orchards that existed there in Roman times. Located south of the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, halfway up the slope, this plot benefits from full eastern exposure and boasts deep, brown, rather sticky soil due to a thin layer of clay. This singularity can be found in the finesse of the wines, which are characterized by their assertive yet round tannins.
  • Vinification and ageingThe grapes were handpicked at their peak of ripeness, then were completely destemmed after undergoing thorough sorting at the winery. After being transferred to wooden vats, they underwent traditional vinification with fermentation taking place rapidly, followed by 14 days of maceration that included daily punching of the cap. The wines were then aged for 18 months in barrels (including 50% new oak from the Allier forests).
  • Tasting notesBeautiful ruby in colour. Superb, complex nose that combines spicy, peppery notes with the delectable scents of raspberry and toasted bread. Then fresh notes of fir, dried grass and rose surface, along with a subtle nuance of tobacco. On the palate, the typicity of the great wines from the southern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges shines through with pleasing acidity, distinguished roundness and pronounced salinity. Following an opening that features angelica, rhubarb and strawberry, notes of beechwood smoke lend a supplementary dimension to the wine. This ambassador of its terroir, with its intense tannins, will reveal all of its character as it ages.
