- PhilosophyCorton Grand Cru, by far the largest in all of Burgundy (160 ha) and the only red Grand Cru from the Côte de Beaune, stretches from mid-slope in Ladoix-Serrigny to the east to the edge of Pernand-Vergelesses to the west. It is made up of a multitude of climats that, due to their distinct terroirs, produce wines that each boast their singular character. Though the styles of Corton wines vary, they all have a definite boldness in common.
- TerroirIn this 2022 vintage, our Corton comes entirely from the place called Les Bressandes, located north of the village of Aloxe-Corton, downstream of the Clos du Roi and Les Renardes plots, at an altitude of between 260 and 280 meters and a east-southeast orientation. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil which brings finesse, subtlety but also complexity and power to the wine.
- Vinification and ageingThe grapes were handpicked and sorted a first time in the vineyard. Following a brief period of maceration at low temperatures, fermentation, got underway due to indigenous yeasts and involved a few light punchdowns. Cuvaison lasted 20 days. The wine was aged for 16 months with a proportion of 33% new oak barrels from the forests of central France.
- Tasting notesSplendid carmine red color, of beautiful intensity. A complex nose with fruity notes (vine peach, sloe) and accents of scrubland (thyme, bay leaf). Sweet spicy (curry, cinnamon, vanilla) and woody (rosewood) scents add depth. Warm touch of dark chocolate balanced with a note of rose. The attack offers great concentration and density. The tannins are silky and energized by the mineral freshness of this wine. Nice fruitiness on the palate, with a slight sweetness, with deliciousness (blackcurrant almond tart, custard). The finish, slightly liquorice, is fresh. A grand cru of great finesse which will reveal all its character as it ages.
