Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Crots Red 2020 - organic

Nuits-Saint-Georges "Les Crots" 1er crus - 2020

  • Production552 bottles and 144 magnums
  • PhilosophyOne of the marked characteristics of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation is the great diversity of its terroirs, diversity that is also found in the styles of its wines that differ considerably depending on where the grapes are grown. With its headquarters in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the House of Edouard Delaunay illustrates this wealth by offering several selections from Premier Cru climats located both north and south of the village.
  • TerroirThis 4-hectare climat is located just south of the village, at the very top of the slope. It benefits from east-northeastern exposure and very stony, shallow soil that is well drained to lend the wine freshness and concentration. Its high altitude also contributes to the wine’s freshness.
  • Vinification and ageingThe organically certified grapes were handpicked, sorted and completely destemmed. Fermentation began naturally following 3 days of cold mace- ration. The grapes were then transferred to tanks where they underwent a traditional vinification completed with a gentle punching of the cap, parti- cularly at the end of fermentation. Barrel ageing lasted for 17 months with a proportion of 1/3 new oak.
  • Tasting notesElegant deep red, almost black, in colour with unctuous, velvety texture. The first nose is reminiscent of peat, after which follow aromas of dried herbs, thyme, fir and chili pepper. Notes of red fruit then surface (cherry, sour cherry, raspberry) along with a subtle f loral hint of poppy, then almond. Pure start to the palate featuring lovely sucrosity and refreshing acidity typical of this appellation. A mineral hint of white pebbles opens up to f lavours of sourdough bread and notes of brioche, along with a whisper of freshly cut grass. This wine is deep and pure, and perfectly corresponds to its appellation: ripe yet mineral, almost stony, with pleasing acidity. Remarkable cellaring potential
