PhilosophyChambolle-Musigny wines are very rare; the Premier Crus are even more so. We are particularly proud and happy to be able to offer this exclusive cuvée that hails from this little-known though superior Premier Cru vineyard.
TerroirOur cuvée is sourced from a plot located on the outskirts of the village of Chambolle-Musigny, along the famed Route des Grands Crus and adjacent to the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru. The grapes for this cuvée grow on vines planted halfway up the slope; overlying the same rocky subsoil as is found in Bonnes-Mares. These moderately deep soils allow the wine to express both purity and elegance.
Vinification and ageingVinification was carried out very traditionally with all of the grapes destemmed. Punch-down was performed sparingly so as to preserve all of the finesse this terroir has to offer. Cuvaison lasted 18 days. The wine was aged for 15 months in one-year-old barrels.
Tasting notesBeautiful red colour. The nose is extremely pure, fresh and elegant, redolent of subtle, delicate scents of rose petal (typical of shallow soil Chambolle wines), raspberry jam and violets. Starts off silky on the palate, delicate and fresh with soft tannins and pleasing acidity. Flavours of chocolate and brandied cherries, candied chestnuts, tobacco, heather and thyme. The finish leaves an impression of delicacy and remarkable freshness.
