Côte de Nuits Villages Les Combes Red 2017

Côte de Nuits Villages Communale - 2017

  • Philosophy The legendary Côte de Nuits, with its succession of prestigious appellations that have enchanted the entire world, has the (justified!) reputation of producing unaffordable wines. Côte de Nuits-Villages is the exception to the rule. It may only be produced in 5 villages that border the heart of the Côte de Nuits: Fixin and Brochon to the north, Prémeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin to the south. Côte de Nuits-Villages represents a fine introduction to the Côte’s great wines with all that it has in common to offer:  elegance, distinction, and intense, fleshy fruit.
  • Terroir The grapes for this wine hail from a selection of plots in the southern part of the appellation (Corgoloin, Comblanchien and Prémeaux-Prissey). These plots benefit from idea southeastern exposure, which lends this wine lovely ripeness.
  • Vinification and ageing The grapes are handpicked, sorted and destemmed before being vinified. Ageing lasts 14 months using 20% new oak.
  • Tasting notes Verging on dark purple in colour. The nose features aromas of wild fruit (sour cherry and hawthorn) along with subtle spicy nuances. Velvety and fresh on the palate, boasting remarkable purity with notes of blackberry jam and red berry coulis.
