- PhilosophyThe legendary Côte de Nuits, with its succession of prestigious appellations that have enchanted the entire world, has the (justified!) reputation of producing unaffordable wines. Côte de Nuits-Villages is the exception to the rule. It may only be produced in 5 villages that border the heart of the Côte de Nuits: Fixin and Brochon to the north, Premeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin to the south. Côte de Nuits-Villages represents a fine introduction to the Côte’s great wines with all that it has in common to offer: elegance, distinction, and intense, fleshy fruit.
- Terroir75% of our Côte de Nuits Villages cuvée was sourced from the northern part of the Côte de Nuits (Brochon, Fixin), for structure and lovely scents of black fruit, while 25% of the grapes were from the southern part of the Côte de Nuits (Premeaux, Comblanchien) for the softness and body that they lend to the wine.
- Vinification and ageingThe grapes were handpicked, sorted and destemmed before undergoing vinification. The wine was aged for 14 months using a proportion of 10% new oak.
- Tasting notesMagnificent, deep colour tinged with blue. The nose is superbly fresh, airy and very classy, which is typical of Côte de Nuits wines, exuding aromas of black cherry and spices. Tremendous velvety, full-bodied start to the palate, boasting perfect balance between maturity and acidity. Notes of black fruit, wild plum, bark, hazelnut and coffee are complemented by hints of spices, incense, beeswax and dark chocolate. The tannins are still firm, but will soften over time.
