Bourgogne Aligoté La Vigne Du Professeur Feuillat 2020

Bourgogne Aligoté Régionale - 2020

  • PhilosophyLong underestimated, the Aligoté grape is undergoing a revival thanks to the work of a few passionate winegrowers. It is important for the House of Edouard Delaunay to take part in this revival. Our Aligoté is a terroir wine, hailing from a plot of vines that are located just a few hundred metres from our winery.
  • TerroirThe grapes for this wine come from a plot of old Aligoté vines that were planted by ProfessorFeuillat, Laurent Delaunay’s oenology professor. Located on the historic hill that faces the Château de Charmont, this plot faces southeast on a steep slope at altitudes of between 420 and 450m, with white soil that contains a very high proportion of limestone. It is located very close to the Saint-Vivant Abbey whose monks developed and crafted the famed Romanée Saint-Vivant in the Middle Ages. This abbey was fortunately saved and is maintained thanks to a major sponsorship operation in which the Delaunay family, who are very attached to the site, are active participants.
  • Vinfication and ageingThis was the last plot we harvested in September 2018. The grapes were handpicked at the peak of ripeness with a high acidity level, which is sought after for this varietal. Following gentle pressing, fermentation started in tanks and then the must was transferred to 2, 3 and 4-year-old oak barrels to finish the vinification process. Ageing was short, lasting only 4 months, on the lees with regular stirring. The wine was bottled early, after malolactic fermentation was complete so as to capture all of its fresh, floral aromas.
  • Tasting notesBeautiful pale yellow in colour boasting a gorgeous pure nose featuring expressive notes of stinging nettle, freshly cut herbs, a touch of lemon, mandarin, a basket of fruit. A taut, chiselled wine that is clean and extremely refreshing. Starts off fabulously on the palate, allying freshness and maturity with mineral notes of flint and a finish reminiscent of barley sugar.
