Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir Régionale - 2021
- PhilosophyThe Bourgogne Côte d’Or appellation is a new appellation beginning with the 2017 vintage. It aims to offer all of the nobility of Burgundy’s regional appellations by using grapes that come exclusively from the finest terroirs in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, a philosophy the House of Edouard Delaunay fully subscribes to.
- TerroirOur cuvée comes three quarters from a selection of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Beaune (Puligny-Montrachet 70%, Chorey-les-Beaune 5%) and a quarter from the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits. The original plots face the south-east and occupy the bottom of the coast, on soils composed of clay alluvium, silt and gravel. These soils, resulting from the scree of the parent rocks of the great wines, are generally deep and allow the wine to express both richness and power, but also elegant and fruity notes.
- Vinification and ageingHarvested by hand, the grapes underwent rigorous sorting. A short cold maceration to extract fruit and color is followed by vatting for around twelve days. As is the case with great Burgundies, this wine is then aged 100% in oak barrels for ten months (20% new barrels). Each vintage is vinified and aged separately. The final assembly is carried out just before bottling.
- Tasting notesSublime deep purple-red color. The nose is expressive, elegant and pure, revealing aromas of pastry (cherry clafouti, vanilla, cherry) and very beautiful maturity. Spicy notes (nutmeg, coriander, pepper). The attack on the palate is broad, with volume. We find aromas of almond, redcurrant and raspberry, which bring a nice sweetness as well as a pleasant freshness. The tannins are present, elegant and balanced. On the palate, freshness dominates, combined with a beautiful, well-integrated acidity. The tasting gives way to a generous finish offering sweet notes of red fruit sabayon punctuated with touches of blackcurrant. A very beautiful Pinot Noir.
