Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru Aux Murgers Red 2016
Nuits-Saint-Georges "Aux Murgers"1er crus - 2016
PhilosophyOne of the main characteristics of Nuits-Saint-Georges’ wines lies in the great diversity of its terroirs, diversity that is found in the different styles of wines that vary greatly depending on where the grapes are grown. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the House of Edouard Delaunay illustrates this multiplicity by offering several selections from Premier Cru climats located both north and south of the village.
TerroirLocated amid the Premier Cru vineyards north of Nuits-Saint-Georges, on the Vosne-Romanée side at the bottom of the slope (250 metres altitude), this east-facing plot boasts deep, marly, silt-laden soil, which allows the vines’ roots to plunge deep down. This characteristic is reflected in the wine whose profile is rich and profound, fleshy and spicy and features silky tannins.
Vinification and ageingAfter manual harvesting and sorting of the berries, the vinification (30% whole harvest) lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Aging in French oak barrels (50% new barrels) lasts 15 to 18 months..
Tasting notesThe dress is dark red. The bouquet is powerful, with aromas of red fruit coulis (blackcurrant, strawberry) and heather. On the palate, the wine is very structured, powerful, and presents the same notes of fruit associated with more animal notes of leather. A perfect wine to keep..
